NEW PRESIDENT APPOINTED AT SACRED HEART HIGH SCHOOL

Superintendent of Catholic Schools Dale R. Hoyt announced that, effective immediately, Mrs. Eileen Regan is happy to accept the appointment by Archbishop Henry J. Mansell as the next President of Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury. Mrs. Regan has been serving as Interim President/Chief Administrator since July 2009 following the retirement of former Sacred Heart President Francis Murphy.

Eileen Regan has been a member of the Sacred Heart High School staff for almost twenty years, but her connection to the school precedes her employment. She graduated from Sacred Heart in 1978 and more recently became an alumni parent since both of her daughters graduated from the school. Mrs. Regan earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Southern Connecticut State University and is currently pursuing an advanced degree in the Administrator Certification Program at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield.

Prior to her appointment as Interim President, Mrs. Regan served as Director of Advancement at Sacred Heart, and most recently as Vice Principal Director of Advancement. Before her tenure at Sacred Heart, Mrs. Regan was Director of Marketing for the Bank of Waterbury. She has been a very active member of the Waterbury community, particularly with the United Way of Greater Waterbury, the Women's Business Forum, and the YWCA, earning several volunteer awards as a result. Eileen resides just outside of Waterbury in Watertown with her husband Kevin and their daughters, Brittany and Lauren.

Mrs. Regan's long standing commitment to and advocacy for Sacred Heart High School qualifies her as an excellent choice of leader for the school. "Eileen combines exceptional management skills with a sincere love for the school and its students. The success of Sacred Heart High School and its graduates is what drives her every day,” states Superintendent Hoyt. His words are underscored by Archbishop Mansell who describes Mrs. Regan as a "leader known for her connectedness to the Waterbury community and her tireless efforts on behalf of Sacred Heart High School. She is truly a woman of vision and a woman of faith."

While serving as Interim President, Mrs. Regan has implemented guidelines to enhance fiscal viability, initiated a committee-driven school board, and promoted both advancement and admissions goals at Sacred Heart. In her new role of President she plans to work toward the further strengthening of the school while providing the means for its students to reach their full potential. School Board and Presidential Search Committee Chair Joe Pisani captures Mrs. Regan's promise as Sacred Heart's new President: "The energy and ability to reach out to connect with the community, coupled with her dedication and personal attachments to Sacred Heart, position Eileen, very well, to guide our beloved school into the future with innovation and success."
