In addition to the rich standard curriculum offerings at every school, selected schools offer special programs endorsed by the Archdiocese of Hartford to enrich the academic experiences possible for our students. Predominant among these is:

FMI Mission Statement

The overall mission of Future Musicians is to develop independent musicians. When students leave our program, they have acquired the skills necessary to read music and make musical judgments independent of an instructor. We strongly believe that every child is important and capable of learning an instrument. With the skills and experience acquired from FMI, students have the foundation for a lifetime of musical pursuit. We work diligently to provide the strongest musical education for all of our students.

FMI - Who We Are

Future Musicians is proud to have been providing quality instrumental music instruction in the Archdiocese of Hartford since 1981. During these years, our degreed, certified faculty have taught thousands of students to play hundreds of memorable songs with their school bands.

The core of our program is weekly instrumental music instruction in a small group setting during the course of the school day. This core is augmented by beginner and advanced band rehearsals either before or after school. These bands perform Christmas and Spring concerts at their respective schools. Future Musicians also provides opportunities for your students to participate in special bands with student musicians from other schools. These Honors and State bands perform regional and state-wide concerts during the courseof the school year.

School Athletics

Athletic competition is part of every Catholic school’s program in the Archdiocese of Hartford. Participation in sports emphasizes to students the importance of exercise. It helps students develop a positive competitive spirit, an sense of teamwork, and skill in cooperating with others to achieve a goal. Athletics is consistent with the overall mission of our schools to develop healthy and productive moral citizens.

From grades four through eight, students in most elementary and middle schools participate in basketball, softball, baseball, and cheerleading. A few schools also offer soccer, cross country and swimming. Elementary schools compete under the auspices of the Office of Religious Education, which oversees CYO basketball and cheerleading. In general, students at this level compete with other Catholic schools during the regular season of each sport. In the post season, teams that are champions within their own divisions go on to compete with other Catholic schools in New England. Many teams from the Archdiocese of Hartford have competed at this level

The Archdiocesan Catholic high schools compete under the auspices of CIAC, the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletics Association, part of CAS, the Connecticut Association of Schools www.ciassports.com . Within this association, student in Catholic high schools compete with public and private high schools.

High school students compete in a variety of sports activities, depending on the facility. These include, but are not limited to, soccer, baseball, softball, lacrosse, cross country, swimming, basketball, football, volleyball, wrestling, ice hockey, golf, cheerleading, and indoor/outdoor track. Each school’s website lists the sports particular to them as well as and their history of success. Athletic accomplishments are an important part of the success story of the Archdiocese of Hartford; Catholic high schools of the Archdiocese have fielded championship teams in a number of athletic areas, and each school encourages good sportsmanship among all in the school community.

On the high school level coaches are members of the school staff. In general, coaches for elementary and middle school teams are volunteers. Whether volunteer or staff, all coaches undergo a comprehensive criminal background check.

Each school publishes guidelines for acceptable behavior among athletes, coaches, parents and spectators at sporting events. For information about this or to see this season’s game results or schedules, contact the individual schools or visit their websites.
